I really want this. I've always wanted this. I knew when I was little and people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. They thought it was cute when I responded by saying that I wanted to be a mom. I can honestly say that being a mom is the only thing I've ever expected and wanted out of life. It is the only thing that I've always wanted.
I was talking to Bestie about finding her style as a new mom. She has always been attuned to the fashion of the day, so this is not a surprise. I am not a particularly fashionable gal, never have been. Most of my clothes are hand me downs from my fasionista sister. I am embarrassed to admit that I still have clothes from high school in my closet. I wear what is comfortable, and clean, and and consideration for style is secondary.
However, I have always imagined that I would be one of those cute fashionable pregnant women. Now, more than ever I dream of flaunting my baby bump.
I've been doing a little online window shopping and wanted to share what I found. I'd love any suggestions about good online sources of affordable and cute maternity clothes, especially for us tall gals.

I know it is still early, but it takes time to get a nice wardrobe pulled together. I am also wondering where I might find used maternity clothing. There must be thousands of women with closets full of beautiful maternity clothing. I want to collect a few pieces of my own, but would really love to buy a wardrobe from someone who has already built it, like the hand-me-downs I loved growing up. In case it matters, I'm 5'9" and 160 lbs. Do you know where I should look?

Hey sweet lady! For what it's worth, Motherhood can be a bit pricey, bit I adore their clothes. I also got many things hand me down, but they weren't my style...turns out I was the same...actually gave a crap about looking cute for the first time ever! For the hand me downs...give Freecycle a shot. I would send you some of my stuff, but, well, I am short, LOL. Love u! Oh! Another hint. Buy cute stuff that can double as normal wear after the fact! Then you won't be AS sad if you don't get to wear it often (like me!).
If you have one in your area Zara and H&M stores carry maternity wear (some of them do). I looked online a lot but found that maternity wear for me is hard to fit so I ended up going to Montreal to a bunch of boutiques where I had a lot of luck.
When I first started needing maternity clothes, I started peeking into stores. Being cute and fashionable while pregnant can be pricey!! So my first advice is to look among your friends for maternity clothes you can borrow.
But second, I find Old Navy maternity clothes to be the most reasonably priced and COMFORTABLE!! Comfort is a huge factor. You'll want a lot of cotton in the summer months, and Old Navy is great for that. And really, they don't break the bank too badly.
And I agree with Kakunaa who said to look for things you can wear after the fact. :)

I don't have a lot to offer in the maternity clothes department but I always see cute stuff at Target! :)
I don't know where to find cute maternity clothes but I just wanted to comment that we are the exact same height...and almost the same weight except I have put on a few lbs over the past couple of years.
Are there any 2nd hand baby stores in your area? They usually have used maternity clothes too. Although not pregnant I've always liked the Old Navy Maternity clothes when browsing (I think even Ross and TJ Maxx have maternity sections).
I don't have too great of a suggestion, except to try outlets!!! You just never know what you can find at a cheap price. (We have a store called Burke's Outlet nearby and I have seen cute maternity clothes there..in fact I have already bought 2 summer maternity tops and paid $15 for one, and about $8 for the other, I believe) I absolutely cannot WAIT to wear the gray one with the rouching on the sides. LOL
Also I am the same as you, I have dreamt of looking really cute when pregnant...and in turn have always hoped to be pregnant in the summer so I don't have to be weighed down by big coats, etc. But obviously now I'll take what I can get! LOL
oh I like the suggestion of Ross and TJ Maxx too. You would just have to go periodically from now until you actually need the clothes, because you never know what they'll get in stock :)
A good friend of mine really liked Gap Maternity. She said they always had great stuff, a lot of it clearance.

I'm a bit shorter and heavier than you are, but I will happily mail you all my maternity stuff if you want it. :) Except my Texas Rangers shirt...you can't have it.
I have also already spent time staring at maternity clothes online! I cannot wait for my bump to develop so I can show it off. Good luck in finding that perfect maternity wardrobe! And enjoy this is it awesome
I have found some great things in high-end thrift stores, I like to go to nicer neighborhoods where the quality of donations are good! Also consignment shops and those big baby consignment sales often have a maternity section.
i am 5'8", 155, and i definitely recommend gap for maternity pants. they have LONG sizes which is a must. for my pregnancy w/ my son, i had a great pair of jeans and two khakis from gap, a pair of jeans from old navy, and tops from all over. i wore a lot of NON maternity stuff on top until i couldn't any longer. good luck!
